Description
An account of the resource
This letter to Mayor White explains the mother's position against busing for her daughter. The father of the child is black and the mother is white. The mother is afraid that if her daughter is bused to South Boston she will be in danger because of her father's race, and if she is bused to Roxbury she will be in danger because of her mother's race. The letter also explains the mother's ideas for alleviating the issues within Boston.

Description
An account of the resource
Letter to Mayor Kevin White from a Roxbury resident who is upset at South Boston residents. The writer believes that Boston's black community has responded admirably to busing, while the "non-lace curtain Irish" of South Boston have shamed themselves. Description
An account of the resource
This letter to Mayor Kevin White from a South Boston mother of nine children explains the author's anger and disappointment at the prospect of busing children out of their neighborhoods. She had five children graduate from South Boston High School and she had hoped that the other four would do so as well. The letter discusses community pride through the sports at South Boston High School. The author claims that Roxbury will never be a part of her community even if her children are forced to go to school there.

Description
An account of the resource
This letter is addressed to President Ford, Senators Kennedy and Brooke, Governor Dukakis, Representative Moakley, and Mayor White, all elected representatives of this lawyer from South Boston. The writer expressed a concern for their hometown of South Boston. The letter details their understanding of the political philosophy behind the United States, and how neighborhood pride entered into that equation. For this author, busing students out of their neighborhoods goes against the ideals on which the country was founded.

Description
An account of the resource
CIty of Boston Photographs of School Buildings, circa 1920-1960, is located at the Boston City Archives. It includes photographs of Boston Public School buildings which were kept in the School Committee Administration Library. The photographs date from circa 1920s-1960s.

While photographers are not indentified on all of the images, some of the known photographers whose work is represented include Glasier, Conlin, Paul J. Weber, and Fay Foto Service. The Glasier and the Conlin photographs appear to date from the 1920s-1930s.

Many of the later photographs appear to have been taken upon completion of construction of new school buildings. The majority of the photographs show the exterior of the school building. There are just a few interior shots including the Boston Latin School auditorium, the Roxbury Memorial High School pool and some classroom shots.
