The Board of METCO is pleased that the first days of school for METCO students went smoothly and have joined in extracurricular activities. The Board acknowledges that extra funding for transportation will be needed due to student participation in these activities. The METCO collection consists of Board of Directors records, financial statements, parent handbooks, press material, reports, memoranda, and newspaper clippings. This collection is unrestricted and open for reserach.</span>

An account of the resource
The Research Advisory committee wanted to evaluate METCO's students, teachers, school systems, and towns in terms of achievement, attitudes, aspirations and perception of METCO students. One major area to be looked at by the research advisory committee was the idea of self-concept of the African American METCO student. This evaluation was to be performed through extensive interviewing.
